Our younger children have been engaged in a rich variety of learning experiences centered around stories, observation, and hands-on activities.

Reading has played a central role in their learning, with ‘Brown Bear, Brown Bear’ helping them focus on putting two words together, such as “red bird,” while building their attention span for complete stories and learning about animals and colours. They’ve particularly enjoyed joining in with the repeated phrase “what do you see?”

The children have also been exploring ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, connecting with the butterfly lifecycle theme and learning the names of different foods, alongside ‘Duck in the Truck’, which has introduced them to rhyming patterns and story sequencing.

Just like their older peers, the children have been fascinated by our live caterpillars and are learning to use magnifying glasses to observe these amazing creatures up close.

Their fine motor skills are being developed through threading activities using pipe-cleaners and Cheerios, an activity that families can easily replicate at home using dried pasta, laces, or string.

The children have also been enjoying sensory experiences, exploring gloop made from cornflour and water using both their hands and spoons, whilst plenty of water play has helped everyone stay cool during the warmer weather.

Music and movement continue to be important parts of their learning journey, with the children singing ‘Tiny Caterpillar on a Leaf’ to learn both the words and accompanying actions that help tell the story of the butterfly lifecycle. These activities support their language development whilst making learning engaging and memorable.
