On Tuesday 15th July, all the children at Cashmore had an exciting session with Mandinka Roots to appreciate and learn Senegalese drumming. The children were captivated as they danced to the amazing beats and had the opportunity to use real drums to learn new rhythms and make music together.
This wonderful cultural experience introduced the children to different musical traditions and gave them hands-on experience with percussion instruments. The session was filled with energy and joy as the children explored rhythm, beat and movement, supporting their creative development and musical understanding.
The children were so excited about their drumming adventure that they couldn’t wait to tell their families all about their experiences when they got home. The learning didn’t stop there either – the children have since been replicating what they learned by using the instruments available at nursery, showing how much the session inspired and engaged them.
What a fantastic way to bring different cultures and music into the nursery, creating memories and sparking ongoing musical exploration!
