As the end of term approaches, our NHS Supervised Toothbrushing Programme team at Big Brush Club has shared some helpful tips to support families with toothbrushing at home over the summer holidays.
Children under the age of 7 should be supervised when brushing their teeth, using a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste, and brushing for two minutes twice a day. It is also worth knowing that it is the frequency of sugar consumption, rather than the amount, that contributes most to tooth decay, so keeping sugary snacks to mealtimes can make a real difference.
Big Brush Club has a range of helpful resources on their website including healthy snack advice, two-minute timer links and more at www.bigbrushclub.co.uk. A downloadable reward chart to help children remember to brush twice daily over the holidays is also available at www.bigbrushclub.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Reward-Chart-school-holidays.pdf
