A Wonderful Donation of Strawberry Plants

Growing Our Strawberry Patch

A local residents’ gardening group donated to us some lovely strawberry plants!

We carefully took the little plants out of their pots, used our trowels and spades to dig holes and then planted our strawberry plants.

We could see that the strawberry plants had lots of white roots, which the children found really interesting.

Gardening is such a wonderful experience for the children as it encourages sensory exploration, the textures of the soil. Is it crumbly, wet, sticky?

It also provides education about the environment, learning the process of how plants grow and what care is needed for the plants to grow big and give us some delicious strawberries.

We cannot wait to for our strawberry patch to grow and eventually eat some super tasty, home grown strawberries for snack time.

A huge thank you to the local gardening group for this.

Do you grow any fruits or vegetables at home? Which ones are your favourite?

Keep your eyes peeled for updates on how our strawberry patch is growing.
